As we continue on our journey to bring the Star Trek universe to life, we remain dedicated to hiring only the best of the best. That said, it’s with much excitement that we welcome our new Principal Software Engineer to the Star Trek Timelines team - Alex Raine!
Alex has worked on MMOs and casual action games for years, so we knew he’d fit right in. In fact, he’ll be furiously coding from this point on to help bring our team’s design and art to life in Star Trek Timelines. Alex spared a few moments to answer some questions that we wanted to share with you...
What are you most excited about in joining the Disruptor Beam team?
I’m most excited to be joining a focused team where I can contribute directly to many aspects of the product. I love to know the ins and outs of all the workings of a game, and to be able to work on features that make a big difference to players and developers alike. At Disruptor Beam, I’m going to be able to do just that.
What will be your focus be on the Star Trek Timelines team? What will you be working on?
As a Software Engineer, I take the ideas, designs, and artwork of the rest of the team, and make them work in code. Basically, I'm here to enable others to do their magic. I'll be working on a little bit of everything, including gameplay, tools, servers, and infrastructure.
What is your favorite Star Trek show and/or character? And why?
It's hard to narrow it down to just one, but Picard is definitely a favorite of mine. He's a complex character with deep back story, and throughout the series you get a real feel for why he's so respected and loved by his crew, without being overly perfect.
Thanks Alex! We can’t wait to hear more about what you’re working on as you settle in.
