2015 has begun, and even though we’re still working on our 2014 recap blog post, I wanted to talk about our plans for 2015.
Next up, we’re planning a major game expansion which we’ll release later this year. Our focus in 2015 is on refining and improving the core game experience for our players, so we’re looking to revisit some core game systems that need some love. It’s an opportunity to improve how our game is played, and introduce some cool new content with it. In the meantime, we’ll continue adding improvements to the game, like this week’s Sell All and Retrain features.
April will mark the beginning of Game of Thrones Season Five. With Season Five starting April 12th, as we did for Seasons 3 and 4, we’ll be releasing new quests and items right alongside each episode! We’re incredibly excited to see what HBO has in store for us.
May and beyond are a bit too far to concretely plan just yet, but we know that we want to keep the game fresh for all our players, both old and new. With our focus on refining and improving the core game, it’s possible we’ll refresh and improve anything, from production to AvA and PtP.
We have some other events coming up soon, aside from work on GoTA:
Our second anniversary is coming up very soon! On February 21st, 2015 Game of Thrones Ascent will turn two years old. It’s hard to believe that it’s been two years already - when I first joined the team, we were only a few months from launch, and in the middle of our first season. What a ride it’s been! And we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Here’s hoping we can celebrate our third, fourth, fifth - maybe even our tenth anniversary with you!
March will see us at PAX East for the third time. PAX East is a massive game convention here in Boston, bringing 85,000+ gamers to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (affectionately known as the “bee cee ee cee”) from March 7th to March 9th. Mark your calendars if you’re in the area, because we’re having a party to go along with our booth! If you’re coming, we want you to come visit us on the show floor. We’ll have some great free stuff, and you can talk our ears off in person!
We're also slowly but surely expanding! We welcomed a new team member this week: Glen Robinson, our new Director of Player Experience! Glen will be taking on the guidance and direction of all aspects of our player experience, from the Support and Community teams, to shop and marketing improvements, to events and player outreach. Glen comes to us from Games Workshop and DealsDirect, and moved all the way from Australia to sunny, warm Boston! Glen is already a dedicated GoTA player, and is looking forward to working with the community.
As always, we’re here for you - please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Glen, Katie, and I are all available via email - alex, katie, and glen at disruptorbeam.com. You can also send in tickets to us at our support site, support.disruptorbeam.com, or even tag us on the Facebook groups we’re part of.
Have a happy and adventurous 2015!
P.S. - While most of the expansion is still being finalized, we did want to share one piece that is definitely coming! Check it out here.
