Hello Bannermen! I’m here to discuss an issue that some players have brought up: the issue of their display name in GoTA after signing up through Facebook. Since we launched GoTA, we have had a few players contact us at email@example.com asking for their Facebook information to be removed from their account. The main reason players would request this was because their name was tied to Boss Quest invites, Alliance membership, and other gameplay features. When you sign up through Facebook, your Facebook account becomes your login; answering these concerns and giving our players a choice in what name is displayed in-game was one of the reasons we made the updates to the web site Monday.
With Monday’s build, we introduced a way to change your Disruptor Beam and Facebook displayed name from your current screen name to something different. this means you can create a new screen name to show instead of the name we use by default.
To change your screen name:
- Log into your game account at www.disruptorbeam.com.
- Click on the Account link at the top of the page.
- Update your screen name from the Account tab.
The game will automatically update to display your screen name in the game. Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the game to update your name.
For our Kongregate and Armor Games players, our game was already set up to display your Kongregate and Armor Games screen names, so there’s nothing you need to do at this time.
For players who see a name like “Guest_XXXXXXXXX” for their name, this lets you get rid of that as well. We are changing our Guest_XXXXXXXXX players to a more readable name next week, but if you want to get a jump on that process, feel free to change your screen name now. Otherwise, we are planning to automatically change our Guest_XXXXXXXXX accounts to a more readable name next week. You’ll still be able to change your screen name to your own choice once we do that.
We know some of our website players have been having trouble logging into the game on the Disruptor Beam site this week; we’ve addressed many of those issues through the week, and we’ll continue to do so next week. The changes we made are necessary for some cool features that our Platform team is working on in the future, and the platform team will continue to work on improvements in the coming weeks. And yes, we're discussing the top bar being made smaller in the future!
We’ll be posting a new blog post next week detailing some of the changes coming to the game itself. Some of those changes include making the earlier game easier for players, some UI improvements, and other changes. Stay tuned!
Thanks for your patience while we roll out these changes!
